About Sandy

Sandy started playing golf at 14, previously enjoying many other sports to County level . She first represented GB aged 18 and continued to do so for the next 17yrs . She represented England in Home Internationals and both Junior and Senior European Championships numerous times with a handicap of plus 3 (-3). In 1996 she turned Professional and qualified and played on The Ladies European Tour.

Sandy has been coaching since 1997. Coaching is Sandy's passion so no wonder she is ranked in the top 1% of coaches in the UK. Her approach is holistic and person centred, rather than following a prescriptive method. Sandy stands out in her ability to pinpoint the precise cause of a problem which she will then modify to allow her student to maximise their full potential. Sandy combines her vast experience as a player and 22 years of coaching with her Bachelors and Masters Golf Machine scientific knowledge, to create solutions which are easy to learn, feel natural and have immediate, amazing results. Sandy specialises in curing the Yips and Shanks. She has evolved a unique way of swinging the club on plane which has proven to be far easier to perform than the conventional teaching. She has developed many simpler ways to play all different shots, successfully incorporating them in her own competitive play in 3 come backs as well as watching her students improve quickly and easily.

Sandy is quick to identify the client's preferred learning style and adjust her teaching accordingly. She sees the swing as though in slow motion, has a strong intuitive perception and can spot the smallest detail that could make a significant difference! Pupils also benefit from her wide knowledge of course management, fitness, nutrition, and mental aspects of the game. She achieved Honours in a Sports Psychology part degree at Bucks University. Sandy continuously supports her pupils through the learning process and regularly monitors their progress via text and e mail. Her clientele, now over 1000, over half of whom are single figure handicappers, are mostly personal recommendations from existing pupils. Sandy enjoys coaching beginners to learn the game properly from the start, as well as helping lower handicappers improve by making the swing much simpler and more consistent
Sandy has worked with top coaching professionals including Faldo's coach Mitchell Spearman and taught Golf Schools with Jim Christine, (her Guru and Mentor!) Head of Swing with the PGA, Andrew Hall and Tim Barter from Sky. She was Head Coaching Professional at Harleyford Golf Club for 5 yrs. She has taught members of the Mens and Ladies scratch teams including Temple, Harleyford, Henley, Maidenhead, Badgemore, Huntercombe, Beaconsfield, Highgate and Coombe Hill Golf Clubs and coached the first team at Radley College.

Sandy has coached PGA Professionals on The Mens European Tour: G Havret, Peter Lawrie. Sandy has coached The Berkshire Ladies First Team, juniors to International and Professional level and for US university team scholarships. One of her Junior girls, now just 11 yrs old, has dropped her handicap from 35 to 8 in one year.

As a player Sandy was partnered with Laura Davies, for Surrey foursomes and became Surrey Champion several times, achieving Champion of Champions in County Week. She was awarded a Golf and Academic scholarship to University of Florida, NCAA Champions . In the semi final of The British Championship, she birdied the 18th to go All square with Catriona Matthew (Solheim Cup Captain), but lost to a birdie on the 19th! Sandy won several Major International Scratch events including The Astor Salver 1994/95, both 5 under par, The Critchley Salver 1994, The Keighley Trophy and many others. She also holds several course records. She was undefeated on a GB team tour to South Africa. At 18 Sandy was Under 23 British Stroke play Champion, R-uP In the U23 English Strokeplay Championship and 3rd in the British Stroke play championship.

Aged 20 whilst at University of Florida, she was told she would never play golf again due to wrist injuries from a poor grip. She spent the next 3 months with both wrists in plaster, visualising winning The English Championship and within 3 weeks of the plaster being removed, she returned to the UK and was runner up in the English Championship sadly losing 1 down in the final, (after 7 rounds!) She then played on the International Teams for the next 3 years until eventually she admitted temporary defeat from her wrist injuries and retired from the International Golf Circuit. Sandy then worked as a Financial Consultant in London.

After a 10 years and 2 children Sandy returned to the golf scene with a completely new swing reaching International level (plus 3) once again. Her journey and comeback have provided valuable insight into the process of changing an established swing through mental and physical practice. This has proven extremely helpful in her coaching. Sandy has spent considerable time exploring injury prevention, drawing on a variety of resources and expert advice from top physiotherapists from the National Sports Centre as well as exercise physiology and Pilates strengthening.

Sandy is available for individual and group/team sessions as well as on course playing lessons and golf psychology. Accomplished players and beginners of all ages are welcomed.
